THE AGRONOMIST ANSWERS ON HOW TO GROW AND CARE FOR PLANTS
QUESTION ABOUT EXOTIC PLANTS
HOW CAN I REPRODUCE AOCASIA?
Hello, I introduce myself; I'm Pino and I live in Naples, my reason is to ask you two information: the first is for a plant that I have in the garden I don't know the exact name, but I can tell you that it is structured with only three very large leaves, however the I am attaching photos. My question; how can you reproduce? What time of year?
Then, second information, concerns the Strelitzia, where can I buy it? You know here in Naples there are many greenhouses, but when I go there they have almost nothing of interest, so imagine if I ask about Strelitzia.
In thanking you for your kind attention, I send you cordial greetings.
the plant whose photo you send me is called Alocasia and belongs to the family of Araceae also known as elephant ears plant (and you can imagine why). The plant seems a bit too small to think of a multiplication of it if I were you I would wait a little. In any case, the multiplication is carried out by division of the rhizomes. You can follow the instructions given in its technical data sheet.
As for where to buy one Strelitzia in your area I really don't know what to tell you. I don't live in Campania but given the difficulties you encounter in this regard, you either know a serious nurseryman and order her (they are quite common so they have no problem finding them) or you move to Lazio. I know that in the Latina area there are several large nurseries as well as in Ardea. At most, he calls first, some even send them home.
I hope I've been useful.
